The Academic Support program is a tier 2 intervention program developed to assist those students deemed to be at academic risk in reading skills, based on three levels of data:
1. Previous report grade
2. Dibels Basic Early Literacy Skills Benchmark Tests at Grade Level
3. Specific code knowledge placement screens conducted by the program leader using Sounds Write Alphabet Code Knowledge Tool
Its focus is to improve reading outcomes for at-risk students by explicit instruction of phonological awareness and the alphabetic principle.
